I’ve been in some sort of blog designing hiatus for some time now. It started when I can’t stand using the computer (which gave me migraine) during the first few weeks of my pregnancy but now, a blogging friend commissioned me to do her blog design.
Basically, this task is a bit less complicated than my other “orders” where I have to create websites (or just the designs) from scratch. I will use the existing header in the new design! This means that my blogging friend won’t have to shell out money to buy vectors at istockphoto – a real money saver. The need for vector images are the only reason I charge higher. For me, designing websites is just a mental calisthenics and a hobby of some sort and I enjoy doing it.
Actually there’s a website where you can create a website design for free. It’s called IM Creator. However, it’s more of the traditional website pages and not for blogging platforms like WordPress, which is usually what bloggers use these days (aside from Blogger). It’s a nice way to practice your “design skills” though. You can create designs from their existing templates or start from scratch.
Oh well, no time for babbling. Got to start on that new “designing job”!
