Is your computer running slow?
There may be a lot of reasons why your computer may be running slow. Some of the top reasons that may cause your computer to run at a turtle-like pace are the following:
- start-up overload
- spywares
- the registry
- badly fragmented hard-drive
- poor security software
- remnants of uninstalled programs
- the windows page file
- too many windows and temporary files
- viruses or any ITD
- hardware problems
Of course, those mentioned above are just few of the reasons why a computer runs slow. You can try some do-it-yourself fix to some of the problems mentioned above like, for example, when your computer has a badly fragmented hard-drive (which normally happens over time). Windows has a built-in tool that you can use to solve this problem. The procedure depends on your operating software version but you can just do a search of “System Maintenance” in your menu to clean-up unused files and shortcuts and other system maintenance tasks like disk fragmentation.
There are instances however when it would be better to bring your computer or laptop to a reputable computer services shop or have an IT support look into your computer. This might be costly so I suggest looking for ones who offer free diagnostic services. You don’t want to pay more if the cost will almost be like buying a new computer, right?
