There are various of reasons why people create a blog. While most users would like to open their site to everybody in the world wide web, a few would still prefer to keep their privacy and would just like to share their blog with a chosen few.
If you’re using WordPress, you can control your blog’s privacy settings. WordPress gives you the option to either:
- hide your site from search engines but allow normal visitors
- allow everyone, including search engines (like Bing, Technorati and Google) and archivers to visit your site – the default settings
Here are the steps to set or change your privacy settings:
- Log-on to your WP account
- On your WP dashboard, go to Settings and then select Privacy
- In the Privacy Settings page, set your preferred site visibility
- I would like my site to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Bing, Technorati) and archivers
- I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors
- Hit the Save Changes button and you’re all set.
