Internet Usage Stats and the Emerging Middle East Market

Internet has overtaken the world. Sites every where want their sites to be found, agree?

There’s this notion that only those companies located in the west (in the United States) focus on search engine optimization because most internet users are based in the the United States. Not entirely true. More and more people are now getting internet savvy and using the internet on a daily basis in other parts of the world and one of the trends that emerging right now are internet marketing on the middle east.

According to Internet World Stats site, from the year 2000 to 2011, there has been 2,244.8% increase in the total internet users in the Middle East, just a close second to Africa that has an amazing 2,988.4% increase during the same period. In the North America, the increase was only 152.6% – the lowest growth rate among the seven regions surveyed (the rest are Asia 789.6%, Europe 376.4%, Latin America/Caribbean 1,205.1% and Oceania/Australia 214.0%).
