When you’ve been blogging for quite some time, you begin to acquire and use terms, acronyms and jargon that some people don’t usually encounter – and naturally, don’t understand. It happens not only in blogging but in other fields as well.
This series is the reason why the series, Techie Terminology 101, was conceptualized. It is for my newbie blogger friends (and mother) who needs a little 101 on things related to websites and blogging and make the techie terms less overwhelming. Veteran bloggers are enjoined to share their knowledge in the comments section too!
Our first word in the Techie Terminology 101 is URL. For example, bloggers who want to join the Techie She Lucky Blogger Weekly Giveaways will usually encounter this phrase “submit your blog post url to the linky below.” If that thing stops you from joining, just read on for a little techie terminology 101.
What is URL
URL or Uniform Resource Locator (also referred to as Uniform Resource Locator) is a uniform resource identifier that specifies where a known resource is available and the mechanism for retrieving it [source: wikipedia]. Basically, URL is the identifier that you need in order to access a certain web page, image, blog post or any online resource. In less technical terms, it is considered as the address of a certain element or resource.
For example:
- – is a domain name url
- – is a blog post or page url
- – is an image url
Tip: If you want to know the URL of a document, file, website or post that you are reading, just look at the address bar of the web browser that you’re using (for example, this post has a url of htt://techieshe.com/2011/what-is-url.

Cool, this is really awesome she and helpful as well for new bloggers. Until now my sister still confuse with the word URL, One of my sister had been doing paid posting already so she already knew about it. My younger sister who used to be active in blogger before but stopped for a long while because was too busy applying for job, so just recently she asked me about it again.

This is a good series for newbie bloggers. Even if I’m not that newbie, I believe I can still learn a thing or two from this.
