At last, you have finally written that eBook. How does it feel? Good, isn’t it? Naturally, all that is left now is to generate some sales from that eBook. As you may have noticed, this is not an easy thing to do. Many new and budding eBook authors usually assume that just because their eBooks are good, the buyers will come flooding in. Not so.
You see, you may know how great your book is, but the people out there don’t. So, unless you can show and get them to see how great your book is, you will not make a dime. It is with this in mind that we have created this very short and to-the-point guide that will show you how to promote and sell your eBook online.
Create a Compelling Sales letter
Let’s get one thing straight: if your sales letter is not well-done, you will not make any sales, no matter how good your product is. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, you need to create a fantastic sales letter that does justice to your product.
Your sales letter should be able to depict and outline the problems that your eBook is supposed to solve. It should grab your readers by the collar, drag them in and knock them out! They should be hooked from the moment they hit the page.
You may also want to consider testing video or long form sales letters; this will help you properly test and find the best converting sales letter.
Create an Affiliate Program
As an alternative, use one of the many platforms that already have an affiliate system in place. Setting one up by yourself can be quite difficult. However, if you can create one by yourself, by all means do so. If you can’t, join e-commerce marketplaces and platforms like Fastspring, Clickbank, Shareasale, Paydotcom, Bluesnap (formerly Plimus) among others.
These platforms have a proven affiliate or split pay systems in place that will help drive your traffic. Furthermore, they are frequented by high volume affiliates who are always looking for digital products to promote and market for a commission.
Join Amazon’s Kindle Program
If one of the above affiliate programs do not seem to appeal to you, you should probably check out Amazon’s Kindle program. There are millions of books selling out on Amazon all day, every day. The Kindle self-publishing platform has a massive reach that’s in the millions.
The good thing about signing up for the Amazon self-publishing platform is that, apart from exposure, you’ll be able to earn 70% royalties for every book that’s priced between $5 and $9.99.
Create a Blog and Social Media Accounts
If you have created an eBook, then you need a place where you can gather your audience together and sell to them. You need to provide a place where they can come for frequent doses of your inspiration and wisdom. There’s no better place to do this than your blog and social media accounts.
As an author, these tools are extremely crucial to your success online. Ignore them at your peril. Use the blogs and social media accounts to engage with your audience and get them to purchase your book.
Buy Media Traffic
If you have the budget, you should seriously consider buying paid traffic that will drive tons of visitors to your website. You could either start with high traffic or successful websites with lots of authority in your niche or go with the standard pay per click advertising offered by Google and Bing. It is all up to you. However, the bottom line is that media traffic is huge and extremely profitable if you know how to make it work.
Lastly, when you build a list from all your advertising, get involved in cross promotions with other authors. Doing so can be very financially rewarding if you have a significant list size and the authors you are working with do too.
